Synopsis:

EMERGENCY DECLARATION 《紧急迫降》

‘Emergency Declaration’: If an aircraft faces a potential disaster, 

and normal flight can no longer be maintained, 

the pilot calls for an unconditional landing.

 

Veteran chief police detective In-ho (Song Kang-Ho) receives a tip about a man threatening a terrorist attack against a plane. While investigating, he discovers that the suspect has boarded flight no. KI501.

 

Despite his phobia of flying, Jae-hyuk (Lee Byung-Hun) decides to go to Hawaii for the sake of his daughter’s health. At the airport, he is distracted by a strange man who hangs around, speaking to them in a menacing way.

 

Flight no. KI501 departs Incheon Airport for Hawaii, but soon afterwards a man dies for mysterious reasons. Fear and chaos spread quickly, not only inside the plane, but also on land.

 

Hearing this news, Transport Minister Sook-hee (Jeon Do-Yeon) sets up a counterterrorism task force 

and calls an emergency meeting to find a way to land the airplane.

FUKUSHIMA 50 福岛50 by Encore Films

Introduction: 
Based on non-fiction accounts “ON THE BRINK: The Inside Story of Fukushima Daiichi” by Ryusho Kadota, painstakingly gathered from research and interviews with over 90 people, this epically told tale of the nuclear power plant accident pieces together the tense situation known only to the people who were on the scene, the mounting damage, and the conflict between headquarters and the Prime Minister’s office. 
Synopsis 
March 11, 2011, 2:46 pm. Japan’s Tohoku Region. At a magnitude of 9.0, the strongest earthquake in Japan’s history struck, triggering a huge tsunami and carnage to the effect of more than 19,000 people dead.
It mercilessly swallowed the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Fukushima prefecture. The nuclear reactors were unable to be cooled because of a crippling station blackout, causing hydrogen explosions in building after building.
If the power plant was abandoned, Japan’s destruction was assured. Facing such a life or death situation, workers known as the “Fukushima 50”, including shift supervisor Izaki and plant manager Yoshida, remained on the site of the nuclear power plant on the brink. As the world held its breath and watched, they fought for their hometown and their families.

Knives Out by Encore Films

Weathering With You 天气之子 with Encore Films

Synopsis: 
When small town high schooler Hodaka Morishima makes a go at living on his own in Tokyo for the first time, it isn’t long before he finds steady work writing for a local magazine focused on all things strange and supernatural -- but the most interesting thing happening in the boy’s life is the unusual weather. Rain’s common enough in the city that at first, no one makes much of the recent torrential showers that never seem to end, but unbeknownst to nearly everyone, a young girl named Hina Amano who has the ability to control the weather walks among them.




 Some facts:
  1. Chosen as Japan’s entry for the best international feature film category at the 2020 Oscars. The film is the second animated feature put forward by Japan since Hayao Miyazaki’s “Princess Mononoke” in 1998. 

  1. Weathering With You has passed the USD100 million (10.7 billion yen) mark at the domestic box office, making it the biggest Japanese film domestically since Your Name in 2016.

  1. In Asia, Weathering With You was released in Hong Kong & Indonesia, and the movie top the box office in opening week in both countries. Other Asia countries will be releasing soon in August and September.
