Synopsis
Award-winning Hong
Kong actor Nick Cheung (张家辉) continues his keen exploration of the
horror genre in his second directorial effort Keeper of Darkness, just one year
after he launched his directing debut with Hungry Ghost Ritual (2014). This
time, Cheung plays the part of a streetwise exorcist Fatt who has an
extraordinary method of handling vengeful spirits. Instead of utilising the
typical array of talismans and incantations, Fatt chooses to delve into the
past lives of these spirits and persuade them to release their grudges, so they
can have a chance for salvation.
After video
recordings of his exorcisms went viral, Fatt attracts the attention of a
murderous spirit that has been targeting mediums and exorcists. A troublesome
reporter also latches on, as she sees Fatt’s unconventional profession as a
good story. Cheung, who cites YouTube videos as an inspiration behind his work,
artfully blends horror, detective, and gangster elements into a distinctive
supernatural thriller. Starring Nick Cheung (张家辉), Amber Kuo (郭采洁), Sisley Choi (蔡思贝), Louis Cheung (张继聪) and Shi Yan Neng (释延能).

REVIEW
Review - I'm no fan of any horror movies but somehow this one seems interesting. The part of exorcists makes me decided to go and watch. I got super scared by the first appearance of the first ghost in an unexpected way, super shocked. I like how the story unfolds and end.
