Door Melody Fukuro (Owl)
The Chinese characters used for the name “Fukuro” literally mean “bring luck”. Seven types of wood are used and its features are created using only the wood’s original colors. Gentle, distinctive sound of wood can be heard every time a door is opened or closed.
I'm a huge fan of Japan, if you do not know. I love travelling to Japan about 1-3 trips every year. Having been to Hokkaido, I really love this city! I love their beautiful Tomiya Lavendar Farm and Furano Cheese Farm the most!
Today, I'll be sharing with you some of the beautiful crafts, all the way from Hokkaido!
Sasaki Kogei is a manufacturer of wooden crafts in Asahikawa that develops and manufactures products with warmth using a combination of large woodwork processing machines or laser wood carving machines and the skills of craftsmen. While developing and manufacturing over 200 original products, the company also provides a place for children to experience the warmth of wood and the fun of making things in its “Monozukuri Taiken Kobo (manufacturing experience workshop).”
Kunio Sasaki, the founder of Sasaki kogei
After founder Kunio Sasaki passed away suddenly in 2011, Yujiro Sasaki took over as the second-generation president. It is actively moving into new areas in both product development and market development, such as collaboration with designers and expansion into overseas operations.
Sasaki Kogei has one of the country’s biggest production facilities in the industry, enabling it to mass produce high-quality woodcraft items on a short period of time. It was one of the first among Asahikawa’s factories to introduce large-scale processing machines and laser engraving and laser cutting systems for woodworking, and it can handle all processes from product development to production under one roof.
Naturally beautiful, without any added colors. A wealth of tree species in Asahikawa enables creation of such items.
This high quality card case holds around 10 business cards and is made by precious wood material such as Japanese oak from Hokkaido and walnut from America.
A key-holder with a compass and thermometer. Great for mountain lovers and travelers. Made form walnut and precious bag wood from Hokkaido. The compass and theremometer are both highly accurate and made in Japan.
Sasaki Kogei is currently available in Singapore, at Super Mama, however should you love to collaborate or discuss about business, do drop them an email!
