Chicken up is a Korean style chicken specialty restaurant that is said to be the place for 2nd dinner for Koreans. We weren't aware that Koreans can eat so much! It is own by a Korean dude, Luke, who definitely had made it pretty famous cos we've read about it on Yahoo articles before. Elizabeth was delighted to be invited to Chicken Up for a yummy dinner and the host is very generous to let me bring 3 more friends along. First up is fashion partner, Kazue, Livingalushlife Maro and funnyman Edmond! The host was really generous and spammed us with many unique and special premium cocktail Soju!
First to arrived was a very pretty Rose Soju!
This is served at SGD35, a very pretty drink for the ladies~ We felt that the taste was subtle yet adequate enough for a liquor. Its pretty gentle on the alcohol side which was reassuring. Kazue was afraid he would be drunk as there were many alcohol drinks served that day.
Next to arrive is Apple Soju!
This is so cute! We really appreciated the effort they put into making it FRESH and using the apples as cups! Nothing is wasted~ This is served at SGD25, the Soju taste is stronger and you can definitely taste the apple with the flesh parts. Worth trying for apple fans!
Additionally, you can chew on the apple and drink the soju for a stronger taste!
Just as we felt we had enough drinks, a Ginormous Watermelon Soju arrived !
So huge we had to take a selfie with it!
This is priced at SGD38, the Soju taste is strongest among the 3 premium Soju served. Its served with dry ice and we were playing like kids with it lol! Seldom get to see drinks served in dry ice nowadays as it looks impressive. We were all chatting and laughing loud perhaps a little tipsy due to the alcohol influence? Maro was slightly red in the face! Edmond? He's LATE! So he had to finish most of the Watermelon Suju by himself lol~ Good for sharing with friends if you love Soju!
Next up is our first starter, Kimchi Fries!
This is served at SGD18, named 'Kimchi Fries', As I'm not really a fan of onion, ate the mixed part without it. Its really yum! The cheese is rich, not too thick or runny, We loved the fries, its done really well, the best is the meat! It reminds us of those Turkish kebab meat, last but least, of course there are kimchi. I'm not a good spice eater and their kimchi isnt spicy! A thumbs up for this too!
Next we had a sizzling corn cheese!
This dish is SGD8, named 'Corn Cheese'. We loved the sweet, salty and creamy taste to it~ It may look really heavy and rich but its not. The pieces of corn are really fat and juicy too~ Worth trying!
Next we had Bao Bao!
This dish is served at SGD10 for 2, named 'Bao Bao', one glance and it looks like some popcorn chicken to us? The meat surprises us, its sweet and crispy. && there is a hint of apple in it. It comes with beef and chicken, but if you do not take beef, like us, you can request for chicken instead.
Worth trying!
Next is the main dish, Spicy Chicken!
This dish is SGD18, good for 2 pax, named 'Spicy Up'. Its a little spicy for me, but its really yummy! Its juicy and crispy at the same time! The chicken is well marinated and there isn't any frozen or meaty taste to it. So the koreans knew the secrets enjoying yummy fried chicken huh? They really know how to fry their chicken well! The batter isn't soggy nor too thick. They also have it in non spicy version, named 'Crispy Up'. Thumbs up from me!
Next dish is another flavor, YangNyum!
This dish is $20, good for 2 pax, named YangNyum. I keep calling it 'Yum Yum'! Its sweet and spicy but on the sweeter side. Because of the sauce, its very easy on the stomach. Its makes your fingers sticky after eating it, but fear not, they have a sink at the back! Its a MUST TRY as many tables ordered this. Thumbs up from me!
Next we have the GanJang Up!
This dish is $20, good for 2 pax, named GanJang Up/Soya Chicken. It has a outer dipping of Soya dressing, so do eat it while its hot! Was super full by the time i reach this @_@ As compared to the other two chicken dishes, Elizabeth personally prefer the other two :P
2 cans of BONG BONG (white grape) for me!
They served it at SGD4. It taste similar to Qoo, but better! Its my favorite drink too! Thumbs up from me!
Did we mention they also serve free white radish? Those are our favorite, we ate super lots of it! They are not so sour that my face cringes and being chilled its super refreshing! Do ask for it and have a try!
Here is how the place looks like, they occupies 2 units.
Mega thanks to the 2 pretty ladies who attended to us! Audrey
and cute Ling Lee
We would recommend you to book a table in advance cos while having my meal there, I realize it gets pretty crowded.
