Super Japan Matsuri 2016

A collaboration between WAttention and Esplanade, brings you 3 nights of traditional Japanese festival food and games! Visitors will be able to enjoy performances daily at the Esplanade Outdoor Theater. For Fri and Sat, there will be traditional street performances,by Adachi Company, and Sun, there will be Enka by Windstar Ensemble.

Delicious festival food such as takoyaki, yaki soba, okonomiyaki, baby castella etc will be prepared and served by Japanese chefs from Japan & Singapore. Japanese draft beer, shochu, highball, sake, cocktails etc will also be available.

On top of that, there will be authentic Japanese traditional festival games like shateki, senbonbiki, wanage, yo-yo tsuri, katanuki etc. Game coupons will be sold at $2 each, during the event. 

There will be a different theme for each night, Fri (ladies/students), Sat (Cosplay) & Sun (Family). Be the first 100th and get a free game coupon!

Overall, the food are good and authentic. The crowd is overwhelming, we definitely need a bigger place if they are gonna hold it again~ They seemed not prepared enough for the crowd thou, can see the staffs all trying their best, ganbatte, two more days to go!

 Tips of surviving the event

• Bring a portable/paper fan, its a MUST!
• Bring some drinks along, you will need it.
• Get friends to go together and queue for different food to save time.
• Enjoy all the food purchase by the riverside, cos its way more windy, but please take your trash along as you leave.
• Bring cash!
• Do not eat as you walk around, it can be dangerous if someone accidentally bumps into you.
• Bring wet wipes, good for wiping perspire and cleaning after games/food.
• Attend in summer outfit, unless you want to suffer from the heat and crowd >_<
• Best time to come will be before the sun goes down, before things get sold out!

Understand that due to the overwhelming respond to this event, most of those who attended did not get their hands on the food nor games due to the queues, or it is too small scaled for the crowd's expectation. On a fair side, not siding them cos we are part of the media, it is really unfair to compare a first timer organizer with another that have been doing it for so many years. Personally for us, we are happy that there is an additional chance/excuse for us to wear our jinbei/yukata out and bump into friends while enjoying the festival and pretend we are in japan for a moment lol~
