CAMELLIA Tea Ceremony

Many times outside of Japan, there will be some cultural exchange where Tea Ceremony is performed. Having experienced witnessing Tea Ceremony a few times outside of Japan, I am most delighted to go for the authentic Tea Ceremony in Japan, especially Kyoto.

I'm so looking forward to experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony in a traditional Machiya, with some of Kyoto’s finest sweets and Matcha. Camellia Flower is located in the historical preservation neighbourhood of Ninenzaka, the heart of Kyoto’s famous Higashiyama district. They are a short walk from the temples of Kiyomizu-dera, Kodai-ji and Chion-in, Maruyama Park, Yasaka-jinja shrine, and the geisha district of Gion.
Inside this small entrance, lies a beautiful garden within~
And a wooden stairway~
This beautiful room lamp caught my fancy, where can I get one?
I love every single details in this room!
This contains boiling water, which will be scooped to prepare the tea.
When the water is boiled, a scoop of room temperature water is added, so tea served will be at 90 degrees hot.
Our beautiful tea master, Yukiko who prepares everything right infront of us.
I like how she move in such elegance~

The tea taste wonderful and perfect temperate, not bitter and well concentrated~
Yukiko told us, first we take candy, next we make our own tea!
We each were given a very delicious piece of sweet, we transfer the candy to the paper that works like a paper plate. That ultra fine crust on the outer, and yuzu in the middle is top notch quality candy!
Yukiko watched us as we try to make our own tea~
Obviously we are not as graceful as Yukiko when we do our tea haha!
My froth came out looking good!
After finishing our tea, the last sip we did a slurp, and we admire the tea bowl after~ These are the 4 seasonal bowls that Yukiko showed us!
Thank you so much Yukiko sensei, you have been so kind and patience! Also thank you for teaching us so much about traditional tea, we will always keep in mind about everything you have shared.
